Senior to Give Piano Recital
Katie Schultz, a senior music education major at Westminster College, will give her senior piano recital Saturday, April 1, at 3 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.
The program includes Bach, "Praeludium XXI;" Beethoven's "Sonate, Op. 27;" Schoenberg's "Sechs Kleine Klavierstucke, Op. 19;" Chopin's "Fantaisie-Impromptu, Op. 66;" Flaherty's "Soll Sollew;" Silver's "Son for My Father;" and Schwartz's "Defying Gravity" from Wicked. The piano music will be accompanied on several numbers by: Eric Walker, a sophomore music education major from McDonald; Sara Caveglia, a senior music education major from Leechburg; Douglas Spiri, a senior music education major from Plum; Katie Menhorn, a junior music education major from Berlin; Craig Dressler, a sophomore music performance major from Erie; Rachel Hammond, a junior music major from Pittsburgh; John Wescott, a 2004 Westminster graduate; J.P. Scanga, a freshman music education major from Sharpsville; and Allison Henley, a junior music education major from Grove City.
Schultz is a daughter of Robert and Jean Schultz, Sharpsville, and a graduate of Mercer High School. While at Westminster, she accompanied the Women's Choir, played the piano in the Jazz Band, and the percussion in the Titan Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, and the Symphonic Band. Schultz is vice president of the bands and chapter advocate of the Pennsylvania Collegiate Music Educators Association (PCMEA), where she previously served as treasurer and vice president. Last year Schultz was named "Most Outstanding Junior Music Major." She has played the piano for 20 musicals at local colleges, high schools, and the New Castle Playhouse. She has also been a musical director and pit director for several area musicals. Schultz is a member of the Community of Christ church, where she also plays the piano and sings.

Jessica Henninger, Megan Johnston, Meghan Medvick, Erica Nye, and Allison Pupo, elementary education majors from Westminster College, spent the summer teaching in the American School in Mexico City.

Professor Named Guest Conductor for District Five Honors Band

Celebrity Series Opening Concert Postponed

Education Professor Made Presentations at International Conference
Dr. SoYoung Kang, Westminster College assistant professor of education, gave an oral presentation and a poster at the Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI) conference March 18-21 in Chicago.
23rd Annual Christy Lecture Features "Mr. McFeely"
David Newell, better known to millions as "Mr. McFeely," will present "Mr. Rogers' Legacy: Being a Caring Neighbor to Children and Families" at the Wayne H. Christy Memorial Lecture at Westminster's Vespers service Sunday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel. The service is free and open to the public.
